Fish Nutrition

Faculty of Fishery Sciences

Head of Department

Dr. Srinibas Das

  • About the Department

The Department of Fish Nutrition was established in 2019 with the aim of providing specialized education, conducting cutting-edge research, and offering technical expertise in aquatic animal nutrition, feeding, and feed technology. The Department caters to undergraduate (B.F.Sc.), postgraduate (M.F.Sc.), and doctoral (Ph.D.) students through specialized academic coursework and hands-on laboratory training. Equipped with specialized research facilities, the Department undertakes innovative research on the development of next-generation feed additives, exploration of alternative protein sources, nano-nutrient fortification, and strategies for stress amelioration in aquatic animals. The Department also actively supports outreach and extension programmes aimed at disseminating scientific feed management practices to fish farmers and industry stakeholders, thereby contributing to sustainable and efficient aquaculture production.
